Hampton police investigate suspected fraud

Authorities are looking for two men accused of defrauding an elderly woman in May, according to the Hampton Police Division.

On May 29, the press release states, two men wearing suits visited the 90-year-old Hampton woman at her Georgia Street home and identified themselves as police officers and displayed badges.

The two men took an undisclosed amount of cash from the woman and convinced her that there was a problem with her checking account. The woman agreed to go with the men to her bank where the two men withdrew an undisclosed amount of cash from the woman’s checking account. the release states.

The men drove the woman back to her home. She wasn't hurt.

The men were described as black, with the taller of the two wearing a gray suit. The shorter man wore a navy blue suit. Their vehicle was blue or green. The vehicle’s make or model was available.

The Norfolk Police Department said there have been two similar incidents reported in their jurisdiction.
