Hampton police arrest suspect in Old Point National bank robbery
The Hampton Police Division reported the arrest of a local man in connection with the May 17 robbery of Old Point National Bank.
Hampton resident Eric Dionne Baker, 43, of the unit block of Loch Circle, faces firearms and robbery charges following his arrest less than 15 minutes after the robbery of Old Point National Bank, 300 block of Woodland Road, Hampton, according to the news release.
Police accuse Baker of entering the bank at 12:38 p.m., approaching a teller, implying he had a gun and passing a demand note. He then ran from the bank, according to the release, but witnesses reportedly saw him flee from the parking lot in a 2004 gray Cadillac.
Officers noticed the Cadillac at 12:51 p.m. at Armistead Avenue and Heffelfinger streets. They initiated a traffic stop and arrested Baker, according to the release.
He is being held in the Hampton City Jail.
