Hampton University men's track & field teams takes third in 2012 IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Champion

Hampton University’s men’s track & field team took third at the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships held May 11 through May 13 at Weave Track & Field Stadium at Princeton University. 

Reggie Dixon’s finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.40 seconds, while Brien Berry won the 200-meter dash and finished second behind Dixon in the 100-meter dash. Berry had a times of 20.88 and 10.50 seconds in the 200 and 100-meter dash races. Dixon, Berry, Terrill Cooke and Chidi Okezie finished third in the 4x100-meter relay race with a time of 40.35.

Okezie had a time of 47.02 in the 400-meter dash to finish third, while Je’Von Hutchinson took sixth with his time of 47.41. The 4x400-meter relay team of Hutchinson, Okezie, Edose Ibadin and Jaleel Rogers took sixth with its time of 3:12.74.  Stefano Nardini broke a Pirates record in the javelin throw with a toss of 61.28 meters. He finished eighth in the event.

Hampton finished with 47 points, which left it 12 points behind George Mason, which won the event.

The Lady Pirates took 18th at the ECAC Outdoor Championships. Breana Norman’s won the 100-meter hurdles title with a time of 13.45. It is her best time of the season. The ECAC Outdoor Championships were also held at Princeton University.

The Pirates and Lady Pirates next track meet will be the NCAA East Preliminary held in Jacksonville, Fla., from May 26 through May 28.
