Hampton man charged in fatal shooting in confrontation over car
Hampton police arrested a suspect in the April 22 shooting death of a city man.
According to the Hampton Police Division, Chaz Antonio Earp, 25, of the first block of Kenneth Street, Hampton, was taken into custody on Saturday, May 5. Earp was charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharge of a firearm in public.
The charges stem from an incident in which two men confronted two people in a car that one said had been stolen earlier that day. Aaron La’reco Archer, 30, was shot during the confrontation. Archer was found in the 500 block of Shelton Road. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.
