Alan M. Skees and Kristin A. Skees bought a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 217 Brooke Drive in Hampton from Peter Giano for $209,000 on Aug. 16.

Giano paid $262,500 for the property in June 2010. The 1,811-square-foot house was built in 1951 in Armstrong Gardens. It is part of the Merrimac Shores subdivision.

Alan Skees is an instructor of digital arts and new media at Christopher Newport University. He previously was an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and at the University of Montevallo.

He obtained his B.F.A. in studio art from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his M.F.A. from the University of Arizona.

Kristin Skees is also an artist, as well as a faculty member at Christopher Newport University.

She has a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also holds an M.L.I.S. from the University of Alabama.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 1,799 home sales in Hampton during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $138,006.
