The estate of Dorothy Rouse Bottom has listed for sale a six-bed, 6.5-bath home at 1500 Chesapeake Ave. in Merrimac Shores/Raleigh Terrace for $1.48 million.

The 8,000-square-foot house was built in 1996 in Virginia. Bo Parrish of Virginia Land & Homes Inc. is the listing agent for the property.

Dorothy Rouse-Bottom was the former owner at morning newspaper The Daily Press. She previously served as an editor and assistant editor at the newspaper company. In addition, she also worked as a social worker in New York.

She received a bachelor's degree from Sweet Briar College (1949) and a master's degree in 16th century English history from Columbia University.
